trench warfare
Trench warfare is a very sad way of fighting. Sad as in, many people were killed this way, and many suffered. Once you were hit in the trench whether it was by a granaide or by bullets or cannons and bombs, if you were not killed instantly you were trapped. Once you were in the trench, there was no way out unless you wanted to be immediately shot at. Many were wounded and suffered for hours, or days until they finally died. It was a very brutal way of war. Soon, inventions of more devastating combat evolved and was created. Therefore making trench warfare impossible because the new advanced weaponry would be able to get to the trenches with ease.

$6 billion spending cut
The $6 billion spending cut on medicaid and food stamps was passed. It was a republican idea that Obama decided to allow and accept. As a republican myself, I am not financially in a high stature. My family is on the lower end of the middle class. But, I feel that this budget cut will be beneficial. The medicaid provides medical services to lower income, and even illegal aliens. To me, that is not right. I understand that America tries to provide many beneficial services to illegal aliens and those in poverty, but it should be limited. If the economy is down, like it is, then we should be helping those LEGAL in our country who are struggling. I feel that the Illegal aliens should be one of our last topics of concern, and that the legal American's should be first priority. That is why I agree with this bill that has passed in order to save money for things needed to bring the American economy back up.
non-violent acts
The idea of non-violence in my opinion is a very unrealistic approach. I mean, don't get me wrong, I believe in the non-violent protests are very realistic. In those cases and situations it would not get the point across as effectively to act in a destructive and violent manner. But, for the idea of "peace" as much as I pray and wish for it, I do not see that happening as a result from non-violent acts. In order to gain respect in certain countries where fighting is all they have ever known, is to act violently. I wish it didn't to be that way but it is. Some countries will laugh in your face if you tried to resolve a situation by a from of non-violent communication. Ghaundi attempted to gain humanity in his country. By acting as a leader and non-violent. This worked to an extent. I just feel, unfortunately there must me some form of threats or violence to resolve certain situations within the world.
Barbie and Ken
The topic on Barbie and Ken that was discussed in the book as well as in class was actually quite interesting. I found it very interesting that people would want to change the look of Barbie and Ken, as well as their relationship. Whose to say that Barbie and Ken are not married, or together by common law! Barbie and Ken have been "together" for many years. Another thing I find funny is that people don't like the way her body looks. Well, it is possible for someone to look that way, and it seems to me people are more bitter that they don't look that way than worried about how their children see her. Barbie is every woman's ideal body type, and as children that is not something very noticed. I always played with barbies as a kid, and i never recall worrying about looking like barbie. I was a chubby kid and the way barbie looked to me was beautiful. I was not envious, I was not even really thinking much about it. So, for parents to be bothered by the way Barbie looks is selfish, and bitter.(in my opinion) Barbie and Kens relationship, when I was a kid, seemed like a boyfriend/girlfriend situation. Never was I ever led to believe they had sex, or did anything that wasn't in the norm of society. When i would play with them, I would make them get married and then they would hang out like any other "couple." Barbie and Ken practices healthy imagination, and people need to stop over thinking this situation.

pearl harbor
WW2 was a very horrible war, in which many American soldiers were killed. Recently, our softball team went to Hawaii to the ocean battlefield of Pearl Harbor. It was absolutely amazing to be able to go see where so many soldiers and innocent civilians were caught of guard and attacked. As soon as you set foot onto the boat that takes you out to sea where the monument of Pearl Harbor floats, you feel a sense of sorrow. Giant boats line the seas, just like the ones that were bombed that day. Once the boat docked onto the Pear Harbor monument they asked for complete silence for those who lost their lives. All you could hear were the waves as they gently hit the walls of the monument and the whispers of the wind. The Monument that floats in the water is for the USS Arizona. The Arizona is the only ship they left in the water, as a reminder of that dreadful day. Parts of the massive ship peek above the top of the water. The rest of the ship is seen through the clear ocean water. As i looked at the ship from the monument, i noticed that oil still pumps out and makes a drop of color as the sun's rays shine upon it. It amazes me how the oil still seeps out from the boat after it has sat there for over 50 years. To me with every different drop of oil i saw spit out from the depths of the ocean, it was like a soldier who lost their life was trying to remind me to never forget them. As I starred at the wall with hundreds of names of the fallen soldiers written on it, I choked up. Everyone in that room was silent. I saw an elderly man walk up to the wall and take a picture of a name. As i saw his face it was filled with great sorrow and I wondered who that person was to him. Thought raced through my mind, maybe his dad, or grandfather, or brother. I found myself reading through every single name. As people began to board back onto the ship that took us out there the mood was heavy. People were changed and moved by this monument. I truly believe that no one will forget the fallen soldiers of Peal Harbor. Like the drops of oil that keep spouting onto the surface of the ocean, they will never be forgotten.

picture on page 600
I attempted to find the picture on the internet but i didn't find it. The picture though, is very brutal and offensive. I can't believe that someone would seriously do that to little children that have nothing to do with a situation. It bothers me that mankind could torture children. I don't agree with any type of torture of a person to another, but it is one thing to do it to an adult that is involved with the situation. Than a child who is only involved by their family. In the picture on page 600 it is a photo of two young boys who had their hands cut off when they or their families couldn't produce enough wild rubber to the white men. Their faces just look so sad. It bothers me a lot. I don't understand why someone would do that. Now they will struggle with everyday things, when they were born and blessed with both working hands. It is unfair to decide to take someones life, or body parts like that. In that section it also says if not enough wild rubber was found many were killed and shot in the head. It bothers me how evil humane kind can really be. I just hope that people have learned and grown as humanists to never allow such torture to be acceptable ever again!
